		<description>Originally the swans would have had nicks made in their beaks - five for the Queen, one for the Dyers Livery Company and two for the Vintners.   This gave rise to the pub sign "Swan With Two Necks" or nicks.   The Vintners Company held the trade monopoly in Gascony wines so the name would have advertised their sale within a pub with this name.
